I am a mixed media artist living in Portland, Oregon. I often think of my art pieces as little paint poems – quiet stories of imaginary characters (usually women) and animals (usually dogs) and small things floating in the atmosphere. Through this imagery I explore my thoughts on memories, love, and the dualities in life: joy and sorrow, beauty and loss.
The process of art making brings me much joy. Colors, marks and patterns swirl around on my paint surface where I usually see a story starting. I follow along and see where it takes me. Sometimes it’s a wild ride. Sometimes it’s a quiet meandering. If I find myself smiling, laughing or even gasping, I know I’m on to something!
Since childhood, I have been drawn to making things and worked mostly in paper crafts and fiber arts. Much later in life, I began to feel a strong pull towards painting, drawing and collage. And so began my journey of expressing myself with paint and mixed media. I look forward to staying on this artful path and seeing where it takes me.
